It's not about scuba diving but diving seems to me a really good metaphor for life.

The more specific and confined the issue, the faster the resolution (i.e. flashbacks from car wreck), the longer the issue has been around and the more aspects of your life it impacts, the longer resolution will take (and yet a better life is out there even if it takes some time to get there).
